Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t have a family doctor in Ottawa, you’re not alone—nearly 1 in 5 people in Ontario face this challenge. While Health Care Connect might eventually match you with a physician, Alodoc will provide immediate patient care when we launch. Our clinic will serve as your complete family medical home, handling all your health care needs from urgent care to ongoing health management. Our doctors are committed to providing compassionate care for patients of all ages.
In Ontario, seeing doctors without a family doctor usually means walk-in clinics or emergency rooms. Alodoc changes that. Our health services include same-day appointment booking, virtual visit options, and efficient care coordination. Our physicians, trained at top university programs across Canada and the UK, serve the community with extended hours and accessible healthcare that fits your life.
Our comprehensive health services cover almost the full range of primary care (except vaccinations, which you can get at a local pharmacy or Ottawa Public Health). Our clinic team provides urgent and same-day care, chronic disease management including diabetes, mental health support, and preventive medicine. We handle symptom assessment through our app, specialist referrals, and lab requisitions. Our focused approach means we address all your health needs in one visit—not the typical “one problem per appointment” restriction. Our physicians and nurse practitioner staff work as an integrated unit to support your well-being.
Yes, Alodoc can replace the need for a family doctor. We would of course never encourage you to leave, but the choice you make is up to you. Many patients keep their family doctor initially, then find they don’t need both. Regardless of whether you keep your family doctor or switch to Alodoc, our physicians provide continuous patient care that goes beyond typical walk-in clinics or emergency room urgent care. We maintain your complete medical history, manage chronic conditions, and connect you with specialists when needed. Our doctors are registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and follow the same practice standards as traditional family medicine practices.
No, Alodoc is not two-tier healthcare. We operate within Canada’s single-tier public system. Every medical service we provide—every diagnosis, treatment, and physician consultation—is covered by OHIP just like any family doctor visit. What you pay for is the technology platform and coordination that makes healthcare actually accessible when you need it. True two-tier healthcare means different levels of medical care based on payment, where wealthy patients get better medical treatment than others. That’s not what happens at Alodoc. Our physicians provide the same standard of compassionate care to every member. The medical services are identical whether you’re seeing us or any other family doctor in Ontario. Everyone pays the same membership fee, everyone gets the same medical care, and OHIP covers all insured medical services equally. We only charge for non-medical platform services.
Our clinic location at 300 Legget Drive in Kanata offers extended hours until 10 pm weekdays and 6 pm on weekends. (After 6 pm Monday to Friday, we’re the only non-emergency healthcare option in Ottawa.) Our accessible location includes free parking and is designed for patient convenience. Beyond physical office hours, our digital platform provides 24/7 access to message your care team. You can connect with physicians in three ways: through our app, video visit, or in-person at our clinic. (Note: we have a zero tolerance policy for harassment or abusive behaviour, either in our clinic or online.)
While our physical clinic is in Kanata, in the Ottawa area, we can see patients across Ontario through app-based virtual care. Out-of-province visitors and those in other parts of Ontario can access our virtual health services, though they won’t have in-person visit options.
